For Programs: What are the possibilities for those of us that would like to go to the museum tour, but travelling down to Asnuntuck to go there doesn't make sense. I live more than an hour northwest of Asnuntuck, and it makes more sense for me to drive direct to Lowell, or to meet people at WEBS in Northampton, MA

Did anyone happen to pick up a pair of small Fiscars scissors (orange rips)? Mine seem to be missing since the silk reeling sunday workshop.

Just received this niote: Dear Friends of the Nutmeg Spinner's Guild, On behalf of St. Helena's Chapel, I would like to sincerely thank you for your very generous donation of @150. to the Cliffie Burnett Memorial fund! Cliffie was a very special friend who touched the lives of many by her gentle spirit. She is truly missed.
Your generosity will allow us to have a sign handcrafted that will welcome the community to the Meitation Meadow. This was a very special place for Cliffie. We hope that if you are in the area, you'll visit the Meadow as well as "Cliffies"s site" that is there.
Sincerely, Pastor Daina Salritis

We're getting to the end of October, which means it is time to start thinking about articles for the December newsletter!! If anyone has anything they'd like to contribute, I'd love to have it by the first week of November--anything later than that will probably have to go to the following newsletter. I'd especially like to have any reviews on recent events (such as SOAR or experiences at Rhinebeck--I know we had members there!), or any books that you may have recommendations for. Or against, frankly. We want to share the knowledge!! Feel free to contact me if you have any articles or suggestions or questions--my email is dragonmaille@gmail.com

Just a reminder, October is also the month of both the New Hampshire Wool Arts Tour (all three days Columbus Day weekend), and the Fiber Twist in the Greenfield, MA area the weekend of October 25th. The Fiber Twist does have a vendor venue availble on Saturday only usually.

We are invited to bring our wheels and whatever else we like to spin, knit, weave, crochet, or whatever. Please feel free to PM or email me with questions!! I just ask that you let me know if you're thinking of coming, so I can give the fair organizers a bit of an idea. Thanks!!

REQUEST: would anyone be willing to let me borrow their wheel with a plying head/bobbin on Guild day? I don't have one for my wheel yet, and I'm spinning a bulky-ish yarn that will NEVER fit on a single standard bobbin once it's plied. I shouldn't need it for more than an hour or two, maybe less. I knew I should have gotten the complete kit when I got my Lendrum! ;) Thanks in advance!

Just a reminder that our June meeting will be held on Saturday, June 7 at Asnuntuck Community College, as usual. Bring your spinning wheels for a hands-on program by Margaret Heathman, an Atlanta-area spinner who teaches a variety of classes and contributes frequently to Spin-Off magazine. There will be a fiber fee for samples of the top that will be used in the program. Don't forget that the June meeting is time for membership renewal as well!

The Next Meeting page has been updated. Sorry about the delay--I hadn't edited the content pages before and it took a bit of working out! Thanks for your patience as we get used to the new system, guys!

At the Guild meeting, Margaret will be teaching “One Top Five Ways,”
“Description: Those beautiful hand-painted fibers! Spinning them can be challenging to get the look you want in the final fabric. Whether you get a soft blend of the colors, a striped effect, or pure color flow takes planning. We will explore five spinning, plying and finishing techniques for variegated fibers by spinning hand-painted top and discussing various ways to get the look you want in your projects.”

The workshop on Sunday is “Spinning the Sun, the Moon & the Stars”
“Description: Shine and sparkle, glitz and glam! Have it all in your handspun yarns for fabulous and fashionable projects! This workshop will teach you how even a small amount of extra sparkle can enhance your yarns by using three easy methods to incorporate the sparkle fibers into your roving or top for easy spinning of beautiful yarns.”

It is getting pretty close to the June meeting date and I don't see an update in the "next meeting" area. Can someone tell us more about the speaker and if we need to bring materials? Thanks, Jessie

Hi, I just looked on the Tolland sheep show web site and I don't see any thing about us on there. I found that the 4-H is having a "spin in" but Nutmeg isn't listed for anything anywhere.Who do I talk to? And are we still spinning for the guild on that day?
